Summary
  • The Project Team is seeking a mid to senior level staff to assist the permitting and grid connection efforts for a floating offshore wind project in South Korea.
Job Description
  • The grid manager is responsible for electricity business related permitting, onshore/offshore electrical engineering and grid connection pertaining to the floating offshore wind development. This position’s key responsibility will be the delivery of the Electricity Generation Business License (EGBL) and acts as the grid manager responsible for the grid connection agreement with KEPCO needed to develop this offshore floating wind project. This includes design and engineering landfall, onshore cable, inverter, substation and other required facilities. The successful candidate will work with JV staff and consultants to shape our interactions with key government agencies and key stakeholders including the MOTIE, KOREC, KEPCO and local communities.
  • • Lead the scoping, preparation and approval process for an EGBL and grid connection agreement with KEPCO;
  • • Scoping, preparation and execution of grid feasibility studies needed to secure grid connection capacity;
  • • Lead the permitting process required to obtain all relevant permits in a timely manner;
  • • Supporting the design and permitting of onshore and offshore cabling and installation required facilities;
  • • Secure the required land
  • • Representing the Project Team with government agencies and stakeholders;
  • • Review reports prepared by subject matter experts, preparation of documents summarizing reports;
  • • Careful review of documents vital to the permitting process;
  • • Oversee and manage contractors providing surveys, analyses and documents for the Project Team;
  • • Review and draft high-quality permitting documents with quantitative, qualitative and graphic components;

Additional Details
  • • Familiarity with the South Korean permitting regime centred on the Electricity Business License and grid connection for the project and/or experience with similar permitting schemes and ability to rapidly master the South Korean offshore wind permitting system;
  • • Experienced in dealing with MOTIE, KOREC, KEPCO and KPX (and many other stakeholders) and the very complex interfaces
  • • Ability to deal with EPC contractors and Engineering Design Consultancies
  • • Appropriate educational experience, at least Bachelor’s Degree. Advanced degree related to permitting, biological science or engineering a plus;
  • • 10 years of relevant experience. Work on offshore energy projects and/or renewable energy projects;
  • • A proactive HSSE approach to all works, recognizing and managing risks over the full lifecycle of the asset;
  • • Possesses a relevant network in South Korea, with emphasis towards permitting experience;
  • • Demonstratable strong and proactive stakeholder and relationship management;
  • • Ability to work collaboratively within a diverse team to achieve the JV vision;
  • • Native Korean with strong communication skills, both written and oral in English
